Arrest Over Youth Worker’s Murder

A 17-year-old has been arrested in Cambridge over the murder of youth worker Nathan Foster in south London. Mr Foster, 18, was found by police with bullet wounds on Friday night in Marcus Garvey Way near Brixton Tube station.

He was with a group of 10 or 11 youths when they were approached by a man on a motorbike. The man spoke to members of the group and then opened fire.

A 14-year-old boy arrested on Saturday in connection with the murder has been released on police bail. Detectives said the motive was unclear but there were reports the shooting was over a piece of jewellery.

Mr Foster died in hospital later on Friday evening. His murder brings the number of teenagers killed in London this year to 17. The teenager was arrested on Wednesday evening and is being questioned at a police station in Cambridgeshire.
