Continuing Care Framework: Clarity At Last

The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative body for independent care homes, has welcomed the announcement that there would be a national system for defining access to continuing care.

Martin Green, Chief Executive of ECCA, says: “There has been confusion and inconsistency in the system for far too long and we welcome the Government’s commitment to ensuring fairness and equity of access across the country. The acid test will be in the delivery and it is important that this new approach is effectively monitored to ensure implementation”.

Martin Green continues: “There are a number of issues that need to be clarified such as the timescale for implementation and how the transition from the current position to a more equitable system can be managed. ECCA will do all it can to assist the Department in monitoring and implementing these changes which we hope will be helpful to both users and providers”.
