New Funding Available For Research Showcasing Experiences Of Children And Young People’s Workforce

The Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) has announced that it is again running its practitioner-led research programme and making funding available for up to 100 research projects.

Following the success of last year’s project, funding of up to £3,500 is available for practitioners to undertake research about what it is like to work in the children’s workforce and up to £4,000 is available for projects involving children and young people. The idea behind the research is for practitioners to share their experiences, how they have discovered new and better ways of working and also what children and young people themselves think of the services they receive.

Submissions are particularly welcome from practitioners working in children and family social care, early years and child care and advisory and education support.

A brochure is available on the CWDC website showcasing some of the funded projects from last year and provides an inspirational insight into how practitioners are leading the way in their own field.  Last year’s projects included an organisation which explored the experiences of children and young people using an emotional support service and research into the experiences of foster carers.

Jane Haywood, Chief Executive of CWDC comments: “The research carried out last year makes fascinating reading and the report available on our website showcases examples of the success and passion of those working with our children and young people. The projects undertaken last year provide valuable insights and inspiration into how we can explore new ways of working that lead to better outcomes for children and young people.

“We are delighted to be repeating the programme this year, and look forward to seeing a diverse range of research projects that will help inform our own work and also promote more widely the excellent, innovative work happening in the sector.”
