Mental Health Workers May Strike
Mental health workers in Gloucestershire have voted to strike in protest at cuts, their union said. Unison balloted about 800 members, of which two thirds supported a walkout – others supported a work-to-rule.
The union says dozens of jobs are threatened by the £9.6m savings proposals put forward by the Gloucestershire Partnership NHS Trust.
Union leaders are due to meet managers on Thursday. No-one from the trust has yet been available for comment.
The union’s branch chairman Francis O’Ryan said: “This vote reflects the very real anger of our members.
“[It is] not only about job losses but also the impact of these job losses on the services to the most vulnerable in our community.”
