Former day nursery manager admits viewing sexual abuse of children online

A former day nursery manager has admitted viewing the sexual abuse of children online.

The woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to using a chatroom to watch and exchange messages about children being abused, Guildford Crown Court heard.

The defendant, who wore a black top with her hair up, lost her job after the offending, which happened in 2017.

Judge Mark Ockelton bailed her to appear before the same court on March 7 for sentencing.

She pleaded guilty to one count of encouraging the distribution of indecent images of children.

The indictment read: “She on the 29th of August 2017 was a participant in a Zoom chatroom who participated in open communication with other users on matters relating to the series of videos of children being sexually abused that were being streamed to the meeting by the host, which was capable of encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence, namely the distribution of indecent images of children, intending to encourage or assist in its commission.”
