CRG says it’s ‘business as usual’ as it strikes deal to aquire Allied Healthcare

A deal has been struck to help avoid disruption to vital home services to 13,000 elderly and disabled people, it has been announced.

Privately-owned CRG, a leading home care, healthcare, social care and education staffing business, has acquired troubled home care provider Allied Healthcare.

CRG group chief executive Ian Munro said: “The ultimate priority for CRG is to offer an unrivalled continuity of care for all Allied Healthcare service users and provide a stable and supportive environment for all carers who will continue to deliver services across all contracts.

“The Allied Healthcare name will not change – it’s very much business as usual.”

The deal covers all care and support service contracts provided by Allied Healthcare, including the Primecare and Firstcall businesses.

Care and services will continue to be provided under the the Allied Healthcare brand.

It provides a range of services including home care, which can be help with cleaning and shopping, getting showered and dressed, preparing meals, and managing medication for the elderly or disabled.

The deal comes after the Care Quality Commission (CQC) raised concerns on November 5 that Allied Healthcare, one of the biggest home care providers in England, may not be able to operate after November 30.

The regulator said the company had not given adequate assurance of funding past this date and warned of a credible risk of disruption to services.

Allied Healthcare said it was looking to transfer or sell its contracts after concerns were raised over its financial viability and that the warning had “negatively impacted” its operation.

A number of customers had transferred services to alternative providers, it said.

CRG comes under the group structure of Health Care Resourcing Group (HCRG) whose chairman Tristan Ramus said it wanted to revive the business.

He said: “We have no intention of breaking up Allied Healthcare and our aim is to ensure that no part of the country is left abandoned by this transfer of all services.

“We intend to bring the care provider back to full strength, however, this will require time and the full support of all stakeholders.”
