Turning Point Scotland service impresses inspectors

A housing support service in Perth and Kinross has received top marks from Scotland’s social care regulator after an unannounced inspection.

Inspectors gave Turning Point Scotland’s Perth and Kinross service marks of ‘excellent’ across the board which is the second inspection in a row the service achieved these grades.

The service, which is based in Perth, provides support to people with learning disability. Service users have access to 24 hour staff support dependent on their needs.

A report on the inspection noted: “Staff supported service users well with risk issues, and encouraged them to make good community connections.

“During the inspection we spoke with service users and they told us that they felt staff supported them very well. They said that they felt they could speak with staff and that if they had any concerns staff would take action to support them.”

A spokesman for the Care Inspectorate said: “Everyone in Scotland has the right to good quality, compassionate care which meets their needs and respects their rights.

“The vast majority of care services in Scotland perform well, and where we encounter excellent services, it is vital we share good practice so that all care services in Scotland continue to improve and reach the high standards we expect.”
