Seige Man Given Mental Health Care

A man has been arrested and placed in the care of mental health services following a siege in Bentley near Doncaster. Officers were called to a house in New Street by neighbours after a 26-year-old man barricaded himself in.

The man, who was inside alone, was allegedly throwing objects into the street and causing damage to the house. Officers smelled gas coming from the property and supply was isolated and nearby homes evacuated.

Police negotiators and armed officers were deployed to the scene at 7.20pm last Wednesday (March 28) and the man was arrested at 10.45pm.

A spokesman for Doncaster and South Humber Healthcare Trust said: “We can confirm a 26-year-old man has been admitted to our care following an incident in Bentley last week.”
