Family Centred Care
We are currently remodelling our Family Centred Care Team to ensure we have a vibrant and motivated team with a clear vision to ensure that our vulnerable children and young people experience loving and caring environments. An exciting opportunity has arisen for social workers to become part of this evolving team in Midlothian.
Our ambition is to enhance the support we offer to Midlothian Kinship Carers, Foster Carers, Adopters and Continuing Care, and in doing so improve our retention by building their skills and knowledge to safeguard and achieve positive outcomes for the children and young people in their care.
We are looking for motivated and enthused individuals who understand the importance of the Promise and where this sits in relation to developing bespoke fostering and adoption services. You will be responsible for the recruitment, assessment and retention of a range of carers as well as delivering high quality supervision and learning opportunities.
Midlothian Council invest strongly in their workforce, and you will receive generous benefits such as 30 minimum days annual leave entitlement, flexible working, employee well-being assistance programme, pension scheme and ongoing professional development opportunities.
1 x Fixed Term until 27/2/26
Practice Team 0 -26
As part of our Children and Young People’s Practice Team you will undertake a wide variety of work with children and young people from 0-26 years old. This includes supporting social workers to carry out parenting capacity assessments, supervising family time and direct work with children and their families. We undertake diversions from prosecution for young people in conflict with the law and support continuing care and after care within children’s services.
Children’s views and wishes are the foundation of our assessments and intervention: candidates should be confident and highly skilled communicators. We offer a supportive team environment and excellent opportunities for continuous professional development. We value our workforce and provide staff with manageable caseloads, supportive supervision and a flexible working system.
