An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 x Social Workers to join the Social Work Mental Health Team in Kirkintilloch. The Social Worker posts sit within Social Work Services and is part of East Dunbartonshire Council’s HSCP.
The Social Work Mental Health Team is an established team, which promotes close multi-disciplinary working alongside health colleagues within the Community Mental Health Team based in Kirkintilloch. The Social Work Team provides a range of statutory duties and community care services to individuals who experience severe and enduring mental health issues.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to assist in the delivery of our community care duties and contribute to complex care management. As such you will be highly motivated with experience of promoting recovery focused practice, be confident in managing risk and looking for creative ways to promote independence. You will have experience in self-directed support and have an understanding of mental health social work.
You can demonstrate a clear knowledge of Adult Services Legislation, and have experience of multi-disciplinary working, good communication skills, written and verbal and the ability to work well as part of a team.
The post is an excellent opportunity for a social worker, looking to progress their professional development within mental health and have the opportunity to undertake Mental Health Officer training.
You must have a QSW/DipSW qualification and be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
You will require completing a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) prior to commencing in this role.
It is essential that the post holder holds a full driving licence.

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.
In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
