Scottish Borders Council are looking to recruit a highly motivated, qualified Social Worker to support the provision of good outcomes for children and young people in the Children and Families Duty Assessment team. The Children and Families Duty Assessment Team is a busy environment which receives all referrals and concerns for children throughout the Scottish Borders local authority area. The Duty Assessment team considers all the information received – undertaking initial assessment of risk and need. This includes cases which meet the threshold for child protection measures. As a social worker within the Duty Assessment Team you will practice in all communities in the Borders – linking in with local partner agency colleagues. You will work directly with children and young people and their families. You will work to ensure, wherever possible, that children and young people are helped to remain in their own homes and local communities.
In return we offer a supportive team environment, flexible working, commitment to continuous professional development and offer regular supervision and annual appraisal. We offer a competitive salary, generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement as well as access to a number of additional employee benefits and a wide range of learning and development opportunities. The service firmly believes in the power of strength based relational Social Work and its members will hold the ability to address behaviours linked to, or because of, adult and childhood trauma and compromised child/parental relationships and capacity. Scottish Borders Council prides itself on being a great place to work where staff are trusted, valued and supported to make a positive contribution at work. We would like to hear from you if you are a team player, empathic, enabling and resilient with a ‘can do’, solution-focussed approach.
Appropriate social work qualification at degree or diploma level (DipSW).
Registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
* If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability. Should it be possible to make such an adjustment in order that you can undertake the travel responsibilities of the post, this will be taken into account in consideration for this role.
Informal enquiries may be made to Mardette Fenwick at [email protected].
Scottish Borders Council is committed to improving the diversity of its workforce to better reflect the communities we serve. We welcome applications from all minority groups and individuals who identify with one or more of the protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010. In particular from candidates who assess themselves as having a disability, under the Disability Confident Employer scheme this guarantees an interview to those individuals who meet the essential criteria of the post. All appointments will be made on merit.
