Senior Social Worker (2) (13/550 & 16/1312)
Regionwide (1 post in Stranraer, 1 post in Dumfries)
£49,050 – £52,842
Justice Social Work is recruiting two Senior Social Work posts in Dumfries and Galloway, both with responsibility for the line management and leadership of the Unpaid Work Team across Dumfries and Galloway.
The main purpose of both posts is to ensure effective delivery of high-quality social work services to our service users, the Courts, the Parole Board, our partners and communities. As leads of the Unpaid Work Team, this will focus on the provision of the Unpaid Work Scheme across the region, through the supervision and development of the unpaid work case managers and of managers responsible for the provision and development of high-quality unpaid work projects and personal placements.
The successful candidates will therefore have experience and knowledge of these service delivery areas and be able to demonstrate an ability to motivate and encourage team members to perform to their best ability and to strive towards continuous development and improvement.
A DipSW, CQSW or CSS qualification, and a minimum of three years post qualification experience, are essential. The successful candidates will also have knowledge, experience and skills in staff management and supervision, leadership and effective performance management.
The post holders are also part of the Justice Social Work Management Team and will be expected to contribute to service initiatives and plans, and practice developments, as well as the implementation of the Service Plan. A degree of budget oversight in relation to their team will also be expected.
The post holders will have line management responsibility for a team of paraprofessionals, including social work assistants, community payback officers, and a community engagement officer, and will be line managed by a Justice Social Work Locality Manager.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
