Senior Project Officer 36 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be required to work a shift pattern including some weekends.

West Lothian Council Justice Services have an exciting opportunity to recruit a full time permanent Senior Project Officer to the Community Payback Unpaid Work Team. West Lothian Council’s Justice Services have statutory responsibility to provide Unpaid Work and other activity opportunities for those who have had a community sentence imposed.  The Senior Project Officer will be responsible for supporting the delivery of an Unpaid Work service across West Lothian, and in partnership with community partners, will ensure that Order requirements are delivered efficiently and in compliance with National Outcomes and Standards.

The successful candidate will take the lead in planning, implementing and running this team which will include performance management, and team development.

The successful candidate must have:

• Degree in relevant discipline and or relevant equivalent experience
• Experience in preparing documents to a high standard
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including an ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences and to explain complicated or sensitive subject matters in a straight forward way.
• Tact, diplomacy and discretion in handling sensitive confidential information
• Knowledge and/or awareness of National Community Justice Strategies and relevant Justice legislation
• An understanding of project management and an ability to work to own initiative
• An ability to anticipate the needs and demands of the service and to respond accordingly
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
• An ability to manage priorities and workload and deliver to strict deadlines
• An ability to work under pressure
• Competent in the use of Microsoft IT packages
