Renfrewshire Community Health and Social Care Partnership is looking to recruit a Rehabilitation Officers (Qualified) to join Social Work’s Sensory Impairment Services, which whilst providing an all-age service across Renfrewshire, sits within the Adult Services and locality structure.
The Sensory Impairment Team is a small specialist team offering a quality rehabilitation and support service to adults with sensory loss and a habilitation service to blind and visually impaired children and young people. The team also offers communication support to individuals who are British Sign Language (BSL) users.
To apply for the qualified post it is essential that you have a Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies or equivalent, it is desirable that you have a Higher Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies or an Advanced Certificate in Education (working with visually impaired children) or equivalent.
You will have experience in working in a Social Work team and working with people with a sensory loss. It is essential that you have effective interpersonal skills, communication skills both written and verbal along with assessment skills and the ability to design and implement training and support plans to assist blind and visually impaired individuals to maximise their independence.
You will be motivated, have a positive, friendly and approachable manner with the ability to directly supervise, motivate and organise various groups of all ages, and be able to demonstrate equipment and teach relevant skills to clients.
You must be able to prioritise your own workload and be flexible in responding to situations as they arise. You will work well on your own as well as part of a team, using your own initiative where necessary. You will be imaginative and possess effective problem solving skills to help meet the challenges that will arise. You will have a positive attitude to individuals with a disability as you will be involved in supporting people who have a hearing loss or are deaf or deaf/blind. You will have a willingness to learn and develop in this role.
It would be desirable that you have knowledge of the DWP benefits system as well as knowledge of the range of services provided by the third sector to those with sensory loss, as well as experience in carrying out single shared assessments in Self Directed Support Principles and processes.
It is also desirable that you have a proficiency in the use of IT packages and hold a current full driving license and the use of your own transport.
