3 x 36 hours per week, permanent, Livingston Housing Office, Civic Centre & Broxburn Housing Office, Strathbrock Partnership Centre
The opportunity has arisen within West Lothian Council, Housing, Customer & Building Services for a dynamic, self-motivated and enthusiastic Housing Assistant to join our team to deliver a high quality service in Housing Management. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team following recent organisational changes.
This will include :-
Housing Advice to support tenants and prospective tenants on housing options
Complete Personal Housing Plans and monitor for outcome
Follow up actions from the New Tenant Visit Action Plan. Provide ongoing tenancy management support to tenants following up actions identified. Undertake tenant wellbeing engagement activity co-ordinated by the Housing Office.
Support the service in the efficient application of income management through contacting tenants to prompt and promote rent payment and benefit maximisation.
Complete Advice Shop Referrals to assist tenants in maximising their income, access energy/money and debt advice. When necessary implement the rechargeable process in liaison with Revenues and the Team Manager in pursuit of debt.
Work with Housing Officers on transition activity and with colleagues in Housing Need where tenancy support is identified and refer tenants with basic support needs to the appropriate officer or partner agencies.
Provide advice and assistance to new and existing tenants on how they can participate and influence how our services. Attend tenants’ meetings and participate in community and tenant events as and when requested.
Investigate and respond to initial complaints that are relevant to your role. Provide administration support in the absence of the clerical assistants
Essential to have Chartered Institute of Housing Level 2 or equivalent, or recent relevant experience of working in a frontline customer focused environment.
Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Ability to record and report information accurately and concisely both verbally and in writing.
Work effectively under pressure with the ability to prioritise own workload.
Good knowledge of various IT packages.
Ability to Drive is essential and have access to Pool Vehicle as per Green Travel policy
