Webwatch: New SSSC video explains importance of social service workers’ online behaviour
The Scottish Social services Council (SSSC) have produced a new video explaining their social media guidance for social service workers.
There are many parts of the Codes of Practice for Social Service Workers that are relevant to social media. The video animation explains how workers can use the guidance to make sure their online behaviour is of the same standard as their day-to-day practice at work.
SSSC interim Chief Executive Lorraine Gray said: “Social media is a great way for people to connect and share information. It’s important to help people understand how to use social media responsibly and how to exercise care when using it.
“This animation shows how they can use social media in a way that doesn’t conflict with their professional social service role by highlighting the Codes of Practice and the need to maintain professional boundaries at all times.
“I hope the video provides clarification and gives workers the confidence to use social media appropriately”.
