Guidance: FGM video resources for healthcare professionals

The Department of Health have produced a series of videos to help healthcare professionals understand, safeguard and care for women and girls affected by female genital mutilation (FGM).

In these video’s, you will hear:

• Women speak openly about their personal experiences and what they think healthcare professionals can do to provide women and girls affected by FGM the best possible care and support.
• NHS professionals discuss the mandatory reporting duty and how it applies to all health and social care professionals, including how to manage situations you might face when treating your patients.
• Mental health specialists discuss the impact of FGM on the mental health of women and girls and how to support patients who have been affected.
