Strategic Framework for Action for Palliative and End of Life Care
In Scotland more and more adults are now living with long term, often progressive, conditions involving specific palliative care needs. The future provision of palliative and end of life care in Scotland is therefore a complex matter and must be a priority for future planning, delivery and improvement. This should relate to all those affected and responsible for commissioning, designing and delivering care.
The Strategic Framework for Action for Palliative and End of Life Care is being developed to ensure that new national aims and objectives reflect the current and future needs of the population and the future arrangements in the health and social care system that will be required.
Improving palliative and end of life care involves a wide range of people and organisations, across the health and social care, professional and public, and statutory and voluntary spectrum.
Over the next few months the Scottish Government will build on early engagement/feedback and continue to work collaboratively and in partnership with all to ensure the development of a Framework fit for the next five years and beyond.
