Statistics: Learning Disability Services statistics to be published monthly

The first release in a new monthly data series of learning disability services statistics has been published today by the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC).

The Assuring Transformation data collection will make available the most recent data about inpatients with a learning disability or autism spectrum needs who have treatment or care commissioned in an NHS-funded provider registered by the Care Quality Commission.

The data will cover a range of key areas, including:

  •     The number of inpatients receiving care at the end of the reporting period.
  •     Number of transfers out of current inpatient settings during the reporting period.
  •     Planned dates for transfer.
  •     The number admitted to inpatient care in the reporting period.

Reports will be published on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. The first quarterly report will allow comparisons at regional and Clinical Commissioning Group level.

Assuring Transformation data will be used alongside Learning Disability Census data to increase public awareness of the commitments made in ‘Transforming Care: A national response to Winterbourne View Hospital report and Concordat: Programme of Action’.
