Bupa care assistant recognised with Apprentice of the Year award
Care assistant, Julie White, has been named Health & Social Care ‘Apprentice of the Year’ at a prestigious national apprenticeship award ceremony held at the Tower of London last week.
Julie (52) who works at Bupa Ringway Mews in Wythenshawe, received the award as part of the fifth annual Lifetime Learner Achievement Awards, which were hosted Bristol-based apprenticeship training provider, Lifetime Training. Julie was interviewed by a panel of industry judges before being treated to lunch on a River Thames cruise before the awards ceremony at the iconic Tower of London.
The annual awards recognise, reward and celebrate the personal successes and resulting career development of individuals who have completed an apprenticeship qualification with the training provider. Julie had never had the chance to gain a formal education or qualifications due to family illness.
She became a carer for her mother at the age of 14 and then used this later to support her care career. It’s taken until now to take a formal training course, which has given her the boost she needs to progress. Because of her success and newfound confidence, Julie is contemplating signing up for the Level 3 programme.
On winning this award, Julie (pictured) said: “Although I haven’t yet, I am still planning on signing up to the Level 3. It’s so exciting. What a day! It’s wonderful to feel so appreciated.”
Alex Khan, CEO of Lifetime Training, said: “It really has been another spectacular event. Our apprentice nominees were simply outstanding. Each individual success story clearly demonstrated how apprenticeships deliver for both the workforce and business today. I personally wish all our apprentices every success for the future and, once again, would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication to their personal and professional development, as well as their contributions to industry.”
