Summer school series to explore healthcare careers

Keele University and the University Hospitals of North Midlands are running a series of one-day Summer Schools for young learners interested in a career in healthcare.

The programme is designed to provide year 10, 11 and 12 students, who are interested in becoming tomorrow’s healthcare professionals and give an opportunity to gain a greater insight into the roles of Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Physiotherapists and Pharmacists.

Typical activities include:

  •         Practical skills demonstrations
  •         Talks and presentations
  •         Meet the professionals
  •         Insight into applying to university

The Summer Schools 2015 Programme is as follows:

  • June 24: Pharmacy; Year 10 and 11 at Keele University School of Pharmacy – closing date 5th June
  • June 24: Physiotherapy; Year 10 and 11 at Keele University School of Health and Rehabilitation – closing date 5th June
  • June 25: Nursing and Midwifery; Year 10 and 11 at Keele University School Nursing & Midwifery Clinical Education Centre – closing date 29th May
  • July 1: Medicine; Year 12 at Keele University School of Medicine – closing date 12th June
  • July 2: Medicine; Year 10 and 11 – Healthcare Careers & Skills Academy University Hospital of North Midlands – closing date 12th June
  • July 7: Nursing; Year 12 – Healthcare Careers & Skills Academy University Hospital of North Midlands – closing date 5th June
  • July 8: Midwifery; Year 12 – Healthcare Careers & Skills Academy University Hospital of North Midlands – closing date 5th June

Places are limited and will be offered based on the quality of the application.
