Newcross opens pathway for people from diverse backgrounds to begin career in care
Newcross Healthcare has appointed two new apprentices as Relationship Executives, opening a pathway for people from a diverse range of backgrounds into a career in the care sector.
Caitlin Jones and Elizabeth Sandlin (pictured), both 24, joined the organisation this month and will work closely with clients to understand their needs and challenges. The feedback will be used to drive staff development and service improvement. What’s more, they will become intermediaries with other people pursuing careers in the sector, to support recruitment at Newcross.
Caitlin and Elizabeth will be supported as they complete their studies, whilst gaining practical knowledge with Newcross, earning while they learn.
Kelly-Marie Harris, Head of Clinical Training EPA’s and Apprenticeships at Newcross comments: “We have invested in the Relationship Executive Apprenticeship learning pathway to support the continued development our employee and client experience. This vocational pathway will enable the learners to build exceptional relationships with clients seeking healthcare staff.
“Throughout the apprenticeship, we will be challenging their understanding of our client’s business needs, ensuring they are met by proactively seeking feedback of the service provided to our clients. This will be supported by the ‘Rate My Carer’ feedback feature on our HealthForceGo App which will help them identify areas of improvement and meet individual care needs, whilst improving the level of care delivered.
“Additionally, this role will involve in depth training in building relationships with existing and prospect healthcare staff. Our aim is for the Apprenticeship pathway to support improved staff retention and assist with recruitment of new staff to help meet growing industry demand, whilst actively encouraging people from a diverse range of backgrounds and sectors to join the healthcare industry through a earn-while-you-learn approach.”
Both apprentices spoke positively about their future prospects. Elizabeth Sandlin, commented, “I enjoy working with different people in a fast-paced environment – I am a real people person and tend to get on with everyone. I look forward to meeting the team and creating long lasting relationships with them. I hope I can bring new ideas and make a difference.”
Caitlin Jones, said: “I have always been the type of person who wants to help others, and with both my parents working in the NHS, helping others has always been part of my family culture. I want to thrive in a company that both supports and encourages progression for an individual, and I feel Newcross is the right company to do this. I want to be able to make something of myself and grasp the opportunities available. “
