10 apprenticeship placements up for grabs in Leeds

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit 10 new apprentices to join their clinical services. These will start in April 2015 and last for a year. They will include two placements in the Trust’s clinical services, lasting six months each.

The apprentices will also attend college to study a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care and Level 1 Diploma in Numeracy, Literacy and IT. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, they will be guaranteed an interview for a Health Support Worker position at the Trust.

Salli Midgley, Assistant Director of Nursing, said: “I am delighted that this year LYPFT are supporting the pilot project to introduce health care apprenticeships into our main stream mental health services, we already have high levels of interest from clinical teams to get involved in this project and ensure a future for apprentices in our services for the future.”

The new scheme follows a successful apprenticeship pilot in the learning disabilities supported living service at the Trust. Six apprentices completed this apprenticeship last year, and four have gone on to secure permanent jobs at our Trust.
