Seminar: Father figures – research and practice with men who care for children

The Open University are to host a free seminar on Friday 3rd June looking at the latest research on men who care for children.

‘Father figures: Research and practice with men who care for children‘ will take place at the Open University Walton Hall Campus in Milton Keynes and places are still available.

As family structures change, an increasing number of children are being supported and cared for by men who are not their biological fathers. What can research tells us about the experiences and needs of ‘social’ fathers, and what are the implications for services working with families? The seminar will offer an opportunity for networking and for sharing research findings and best practice.

The event will be chaired by Jason Pandya-Wood (Nottingham University) and speakers will include Martin Robb (Open University), Clare Deane (Family Matters Institute), Anna Tarrant (Leeds University), Sandy Ruxton (independent researcher), Owen Thomas (Working With Men) and Peter Barras (Parenting support worker, Central Bedfordshire Council).

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
