Six healthcare organisations recognised with Skills for Health Quality Mark

The National Skills Academy (NSA) for Health has announced a further six healthcare organisations and training providers have successfully achieved the Skills for Health Quality Mark.

Administered by the NSA for Health, the Quality Mark defines and endorses superior delivery of learning and training that healthcare employers need for a highly motivated and effective workforce.

The six organisations awarded the Quality Mark during March were:

  • CSH Surrey
  • HTP Training
  • Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust
  • LOROS
  • Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust
  • Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust

The benchmark is available for learning programmes offered by training providers and further education colleges. It also quality assures internal training offered by healthcare organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

One of last month’s Quality Mark achievers, LOROS, is a charity that provides hospice care across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Director of Education and Training, Mandy Motley, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the Skills for Health Quality Mark. This acknowledges the commitment and dedication of the team and our hospice in improving end of life care through workforce development.”

Rachael Fidler, Managing Director of learning provider HTP Training (pictured), said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive Skills for Health endorsement for the quality of training and learning HTP Training provides for the Health Sector.

“At HTP Training we work closely with leaders and managers from the sector to design and deliver outstanding training which meets the needs of employers and their workforce.“

Sample comments from the assessment reports written by the Academy’s Quality Mark Assessors for the successful organisations, include:

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust: “Learner outcomes are monitored and used alongside patient experience to inform future delivery of training… Support for learners’ career progression is thorough and the expertise of colleagues within the Trust are utilised to identify where and how a learner can progress within the Trust and their career pathway.”

Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust: “All staff working on courses delivered to the health sector have the appropriate competence and qualifications for their roles which they use to inform delivery. The manner in which training staff conduct themselves and pass on knowledge and insight to others is highly professional and supportive.”

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust: “Sussex Community Trust has developed a comprehensive training offer that supports the overall objectives of the Health Sector… All asked throughout the assessment process were able to identify the links between the training which was being offered by the Trust, career progression, performance and ultimately patient experience of services.”
