School of Health & Social Work launches new MSc health and wellbeing framework
The University of Hertfordshire School of Health and Social Work is launching a MSc Wellbeing framework which comprises four programmes and associated Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate.
- MSc Children and Young People’s Health and Wellbeing
- MSc Intellectual and Developmental Disability
- MSc Mental Health and Wellbeing
- MSc Social Practice and Wellbeing
- Postgraduate Diploma in Wellbeing
- Postgraduate Certificate in Wellbeing
Wellbeing, integrated working and safeguarding are key themes across the framework having emerged through recent policy and developed through extensive consultation and co-production with service users, carers and practitioners.
This MSc Wellbeing Framework addresses postgraduate development reflective of contemporary workforce development requirements. It recognises our unique position in responding to an emergent urgent need for collaborative working practice across health and social care boundaries throughout the lifespan.
Collaborative/integrated working is a key aspect in the teaching and learning approach for this framework. Students will participate in cross discipline/professional/interest enquiry based group working that will encourage thinking and understanding about different perspectives. Blended learning will be a key feature in deepening learning through independent study supported by active class engagement.
Underpinning all of this is an emphasis on service user centred care, self-regulation, autonomy and evidence based practice. The course will welcome applications from service users and carers to be a key part of a positive and supportive learning community.
Jenny Bebbington a current third year BSc Nursing (Mental health) who was on the validation panel said of the new framework: “I was lucky enough to be involved in the validation of this MSc and see the huge effort and passion from the teaching team that has gone into creating it. As a current undergraduate student in the School of Health and Social Work, it’s the type of postgraduate course that I want to do, with the flexibility of the content and teaching methods being a really attractive feature. “
