SSSC produce series of resources for effective supervision
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) have produced a range of new resources to support effective supervision.
The resources explain what supervision is and offer four models of supervision:
One-to-one supervision – widely used and the supervisor is usually the supervisee’s line manager.
Group supervision – led by a facilitator in a prearranged process and should complement one-to-one supervision.
Shared supervision – a form of one-to-one supervision that allows teams to share responsibility for supervising individuals.
Professional supervision – for professionally qualified workers in social services.
The resources provide guidance to help you decide how the models can work in your own practice, and highlight the main benefits, key considerations and good practice.
The guidance provided is flexible and can be adapted to the structure and needs of your organisation. Additionally, there are a range of web resources and two examples from practice.
