New mobile apps for Modern Apprentice frameworks in Scotland
Following the launch of the new Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs), the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) have reviewed the Modern Apprentice (MA) Frameworks in social services in Scotland.
The review included developing support materials on core skills for providers, candidates and employers.
These support materials are now available as iPad apps which support core skills within the MA frameworks at Level 3 (SCQF level 7) in Social Services and Health Care and Social Services (Children and Young People).
The free apps are available to download on the iTunes App Store:
- Core Skills: Social Services (Children and Young People) – Level 3 – Supports you whilst you undertake the New Modern Apprenticeships in Social Services (Children and Young People).
- Core Skills: Social Services and Health Care – Level 3 – Supports you whilst you undertake the New Modern Apprenticeships in Social Services and Healthcare.
Core skills are the broad, transferable skills that help to develop the main competencies people need to be full, active and responsible members of society. They contribute to employability and are a required part of Modern Apprenticeships in Scotland.
There are five core skills:
- Communication
- Working with others
- Numeracy
- Health and safety
- Problem solving
The apps are designed to help and support candidates undertaking the New Modern Apprenticeships in Social Services (Children and Young People) or Social Services and Healthcare and concentrate on the core skills required.
They are designed to provide candidates with resources in a flexible, innovative and user-friendly way, to help develop learning.
The apps will also help candidates collect the evidence required to complete core skills assessment.
