RGU set to host multi-agency disability and child protection event
Robert Gordon University (RGU) is set to host a regional child protection event, in partnership with the Child Protection Committees of Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray.
The event – titled ‘Disability and Child Protection’ – will take place on Wednesday 7 June.
It will be designed to offer learning opportunities to a multi-agency audience drawn from frontline services across the North East.
As part of the event, Audrey Cameron, Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, will be delivering two distinct presentations.
The first will consider best practice in utilising the Child Protection and Disability Toolkit and the second will focus on research evidence in relation to children with disabilities and child protection processes.
David Humphrey, lecturer in Social Work from the School of Applied Social Studies, said: “This event demonstrates the university’s continued efforts to educate and promote good child protection practice across the region, through a focused partnership-based approach.
“All of us from the School of Applied Social Studies are delighted to again be working with the area child protection committees to facilitate such a worthwhile event.”
Emma Toner, Lead Officer for the Aberdeenshire Child Protection Committee, said: “The protection of children with disabilities is a vitally important area of practice and this event offers the opportunity for front-line staff to engage with practice and research material in a multi-agency learning environment.”
