Behan Named New Head of Social Care
{mosimage}The government has appointed David Behan as director general for social care at the Department of Health. Behan, a former president of the Association of Directors of Social Services (ADSS), moves from his role as chief inspector at the Commission for Social Care Inspection. On announcing the establishment of the post earlier this year, former social care services minister Liam Byrne described it as “one of the biggest jobs in social care which would give a new and deserved prominence to social care within the DH. Byrne added “Social care is at the cutting edge of making Britain a better and fairer place to live. People say they like the white paper- but want to see it implemented. So, we need this new powerful, high profile role to help us drive this work forward.”
