New resources published on social care regulation and inspection in Wales
A new set of information and awareness resources around the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 on the Information and Learning Hub.
The materials consist of a PowerPoint presentation, which provides an overview of the Act and what it means for the social care sector, and four handouts on key parts of the Act, such as responsible individuals and the implications for local authorities and service providers.
The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act became law in January 2016 and will be implemented in two stages – the first of which, the creation of Social Care Wales and the new system of regulating the social care workforce, will come into force from April 2017.
The materials were developed by the Institute of Public Care on behalf of the Care Council for Wales, the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales and Welsh Government, and are the first part of a planned Information and Awareness pack about the Act. The remaining resources, which are due to be published soon, are set to include a series of Frequently Asked Questions about the Act and a short animated film.
Along with the new resources, a new Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act section has been added to the Hub that includes an overview of the Act – with links to the Act and an easy read and young person’s version – and details about the Welsh Government’s consultations on the Act. A consultation on the first phase of draft regulations for the Act is currently underway and will remain open until 20 September 2016.
