Childcare providers in Wales urged to complete Self Assessment of Service Statement

The Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) have issued a reminder to childcare or play providers in Wales that they must complete their Self Assessment of Service Statement (SASS).

The regulator is writing to all providers to complete their SASS online from 11th July as this assists with inspections compliance with the Child Minding and Day Care (Wales) Regulations 2010.

CSSIW will be collecting the SASS in two parts:

  • Part one: the annual data collection in July 2016; and,
  • Part two: Review of Quality Care later in 2016.

Some sections of the SASS part one must be completed with information collected during the week of:

  • 11th to 15th July for term time childcare providers or
  • 1st to 5th August for holiday childcare providers only
When is the deadline?

If you are a childcare or play provider, you must complete SASS part one by 17th August. You are urged to make sure you read through the SASS as there are certain questions that need to be answered at certain times.
