New digital resources for direct care and support workers in Wales

The Care Council for Wales has launched a new interactive resource aimed at direct care and support workers that will help them get to grips with what the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act will mean to them and their work.

Direct Care and support workers are encouraged to take a look at the resource, which is now available on the Hub, to help them better understand the Act and its key principles, and how they can apply those principles in practice.

The ‘What does the Act mean for me?’ resource features an animated film and an interactive, reflective workbook that can be used on an individual or group basis.

The workbook is conveniently divided into sections so that professionals can work their way through one section at a time, should they wish, and it provides a number of examples of projects that are already putting the principles of the Act into practice, enabling workers to relate, compare and take away ideas of best practice. It also includes case studies, videos and soundbites to help bring the principles of the Act to life.

At the end of the workbook there’s a printable Personal Development Action Plan, which learners can discuss and agree with their line manager to ensure they are clear and confident about their role, targets and expectations over the coming months.
