Care Council resources receive warm welcome from social care workforce
The Care Council for Wales newly-launched Learning Zone and Caring with Pride campaign have been given the thumbs up by the social care workforce.
Launched a week ago, the Learning Zone – a bilingual online learning resource for social care workers – provides a one-stop-shop for all the sector’s learning needs. The site currently hosts resources to support learning around the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act and the Code of Professional Practice, with more resources to be added over the coming months.
The Social Work department at Cardiff University has given its backing to the Caring with Pride campaign and is planning to encourage the next intake of Master’s students to complete the workbook and gain their certificate within the first few weeks of their course.
And the aim to encourage managers to urge their employees to demonstrate that they take pride in their work, also appears to be proving successful.
Claire Scanlan, of Home Instead Senior Care, said: “I am a registered manager with the Care Council, who thought it best practice to run through the video, workbook and assessment myself before I introduce the Learning Zone and Caring with Pride assessment to my workforce.
“I found the site very easy to use and the information and assessment very useful indeed. I believe these tools will provide clear underpinning knowledge to care workers as well as professional development, running alongside the induction framework.
“Home Instead Senior Care Swansea will certainly be introducing the Learning Zone to all its staff in the near future.”
