Jurors chosen in trial of Welsh nurses facing neglect charges
Jurors have been chosen in the trial of two nurses accused of neglecting vulnerable patients.
Claire Cahill, 42, and Jade Pugh, are on trial at Cardiff Crown Court amid allegations of failing to properly care for people deemed to “lack capacity”.
Cahill, of Coytrahen, Bridgend, faces six allegations of causing wilful neglect between April and December 2012. Pugh, of North Connelly, stands accused of four counts of wilful neglect between June and October of the same year.
Both women, who worked at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, deny the charges.
Judge Tom Crowther adjourned proceedings until Friday – when it is expected prosecution counsel Christopher Clee QC will open the Crown’s case.
Martin Rutherford QC is defending Cahill while Kirsty Brimelow QC represents Pugh.
