Guidance launched for Welsh residential child care workers

The Care Council for Wales has issued new guidance for registered workers in residential child care.

‘The Residential Child Care Worker’ describes what is expected of residential child care workers and is a practical tool, aiding workers in their practice and contributing to good outcomes for children and young people.

Whilst the Code of Professional Practice for Social Care remains the primary document setting out the principles around which allegations of misconduct or impaired fitness to practise would be framed, this practice guidance may be used to illustrate a breach of the Code.

Serious or persistent failure to follow this guidance may therefore put a worker’s registration at risk.

If you have any comments or queries about the guidance, please contact Sheila Lyons, Senior Workforce Development Manager [email protected] tel. 01745 586864.
