Care Council for Wales launch 2015 Accolades
The search is on again for high-performing teams and organisations who deserve an award for the way their staff deliver top-quality social work, social care or early years services in Wales.
The 2015 Accolades recognise good practice among the workforce in delivering improved services that are transforming social care for people across Wales.
This year’s Accolades are particularly special as they celebrate their 10th Anniversary.
Led by the Care Council for Wales, the biennial Accolades are awarded to teams and organisations who have invested in the learning and development of their staff to improve their services and provide better outcomes for those who receive them.
More than 70 entries were received for the previous Accolades and it is hoped that the 2015 Accolades will attract even more submissions.
The six categories for 2015 are:
- Leadership to achieve confident, competent and professional workers
- Citizen-led services
- Better outcomes through working together
- Developing a sustainable workforce
- Excellent outcomes in the care of older people
- Excellent outcomes in the care of young people, children and early years
To mark the Accolades’ 10th anniversary, there is an additional category, which is open to all previous winners of the Accolades since they started in 2005:
- 10th anniversary achievement award
Care Council for Wales Chair, Arwel Ellis Owen (pictured), said: “The Accolades always attract a range of excellent submissions, which shows the amount of hard work that is taking place to improve social care services across Wales. We’re very much looking forward to seeing what 2015 has to showcase, especially given that the Accolades are proud to be celebrating their 10th anniversary this year.
“This is the social care workforce’s time to shine and we would urge everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to highlight the good work they do by entering the Accolades.
“Investing in the learning and development of staff is central to delivering excellent outcomes for people in our communities. We know there is much innovative work taking place across Wales to transform social care so it can meet peoples’ needs, and this is the time to celebrate and share this good practice.”
Mark Drakeford, Minister for Health and Social Services says: “The Accolades are always an important event in the social care calendar but they are especially important this year as we celebrate the Accolades’ 10th anniversary.
“Over the decade that the Accolades have been running literally hundreds of individuals and projects have been put forward and won the recognition they deserve for the work that is carried out in communities and with individuals.
“And it is really suitable that we reach the 10th anniversary of the Accolades in the year the Social Services and Well Being Act has been placed on the statute book because that too represents the culmination of a decade of success and achievements in our social services and aims to make the services we provide fit for purpose for the next decade and beyond.”
