New guidance on absent and vacant managers in Wales
The Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) has published new guidance about what they do when dealing with cases of absent and vacant managers.
Legislation, practice and recent serious case reviews have recognised the critical importance of services being managed by suitably qualified and competent registered managers.
Not having a registered manager due to either a period of absence or a vacancy is a known risk factor.
The law recognises and allows for the absence of a registered manager as long as the registered provider formally notifies CSSIW of this and of iterim arrangements they are making.
This new guidance is available to help when dealing with this issue and details potential actions due to non-compliance.
