Bron-y-Graig care home to close

COUNCILLORS have voted to close a Bala care home in favour of people receiving extra care in their own homes.

The Care Scrutiny Committee, headed by Dai Rees-Jones, head of Social Services, decided on Tuesday that residential home Bron y Graig will be shut, with emphasis instead on developing “support services” to allow people to stay in their own homes.

The home will only close as soon as new Extra Care Housing at Cysgod y Coleg is complete.

The future of Bron y Graig had been in doubt for over a year and the closure will mean the council will make a saving of £1,212 a week.
