North Lanarkshire care home told to make immediate improvements
A North Lanarkshire care home for older people has been told to make urgent improvements in the care provided to vulnerable residents.
The Care Inspectorate has served a formal Improvement Notice on Carnbroe Care Centre in Coatbridge following an inspection which raised serious concerns.
The notice lists four areas which require urgent improvement: staffing; recruitment and fitness of employers; medication management; and personal plans.
The Improvement Notice says mana gement at the care home must ensure that suitably qualified and competent people must work in the service in numbers that are appropriate to the health and welfare needs of people who live in the home.
It also says the care home management must demonstrate that suitable recruitment systems and procedures are in place to ensure all staff are fit to be employed in a care home.
Management must also ensure that medication are administered correctly and that all medication records are completed correctly.
And they must be able to demonstrate that care plans are in place which accurately reflect the current health, welfare and safety needs of service users.
A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “The Improvement Notice we have issued clearly lays out the improvements we must see so that the care provided to residents improves quickly.
“We will visit this care home again soon to check on progress and if we are not satisfied that the matters raised are being addressed urgently we will not hesitate to take further action.”
