New performance resource to improve learning disability services in Scotland

The Scottish Consortium for Learning Disability (SCLD) has launched a new performance improvement resource for service providers. 

Progress in Personalisation is a self-assessment framework that helps provider organisations measure the progress they are making towards delivering personalised support.

In the move towards self-directed support (SDS), this tool will not only help providers understand their current effectiveness, but also develop an action plan to help them improve. It is aimed at supporting organisations both to identify and evidence the impact their service makes to people’s lives. 

Progress in Personalisation has been developed in Scotland over the last three years, with the involvement of people who use self-directed support and their families at the heart of its design. It was developed by SCLD, Heartfelt Ltd and Integratis Consulting. It has been developed to be used by adult service providers for people with:

• learning disabilities
• mental health problems
• physical disabilities
• older people

Progress in Personalisation comes in two formats – as a paper document, and as an Access database which allows for easier completion, action planning and tracking of progress over time. To receive a copy of the database, email: [email protected]

Training programme

SCLD is also hosting a free two-day training programme in eight locations across Scotland to implement this self-assessment process.  

The training course is for both dates. On the first day you will learn how to use the framework. On the follow-up day you will address implementation issues and learn about advanced techniques.
