Lanarkshire women’s aid service providing ‘excellent’ care

A housing support service in Airdrie has received top marks from Scotland’s social care regulator for the second inspection in a row.

Inspectors gave Monklands Women’s Aid marks of ‘excellent’ across the board after a short-notice inspection, the second inspection in a row which saw the service achieve these grades.

Monklands Women’s Aid operates from a central office in Airdrie with outlying refuge accommodation for woman and children in the Airdrie and Coatbridge area.

In their inspection report, inspectors noted: “This is an excellent quality service delivered by a motivated and well engaged staff group.

“The service has continued to develop creative approaches to helping people to overcome the challenges they face, and to enhance their quality of life.”

A spokesperson for the Care Inspectorate said: “Everyone in Scotland has the right to good quality, compassionate care which meets their needs and respects their rights.

“The majority of care services in Scotland perform well, and where we encounter excellent services, it is vital we share good practice so that all care services in Scotland continue to improve and reach the high standards we expect.”
