SSSC postpone 2015 Scottish Care Accolades

The annual Care Accolades awards ceremony recognising achievement in social services has been postponed for 2015, the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) announced today.

The awards, which have been running annually since 2004, recognised outstanding contributions by individuals and organisations in areas like workforce development and investment in learning.

Explaining the decision to cancel the 2015 event, the SSSC said: “Each year we’ve had great feedback from entrants, finalists, winners, judges and sponsors and we’ve set a gold standard against which other awards of this kind are measured.

“And 10 years on, we’ve decided that now is a good time to take a year out and review and consider options for the future, focusing on the people who work in social services and looking at ways in which we can recognise and reward outstanding contributions by individuals and organisations in areas like workforce development and investment in learning.

“So while we won’t be holding the Care Accolades as you know it this year, we will be asking for your views and ideas on what you think would help to recognise, reward and promote the excellent work people are doing in social services in Scotland.

“We’d like to thank everyone who has been part of Care Accolades so far, for telling us your amazing stories and sharing your inspirational ideas, practice and developments and making the ceremonies wonderful and memorable for everyone there.

“We hope that you will contribute and get involved in our review. And in the meanwhile, keep finding more ways to let people know about the work that you do and the difference you make to our lives. Remember that all of the videos and stories of finalists and winners are on our website for you to use and share.

“As we carry out the review, we’ll be looking for your views so watch this space for news of how you can get involved.”
