Glasgow mental health project to boost employment prospects

A self-management project aims to support people with mental health problems work towards positive employment outcomes.

Community Renewal has launced the new Employability Case Management service in Glasgow in partnership with Glasgow Association for Mental Health and funded through the Self Management IMPACT Fund.  

Employability Case Management provides support to people in recovery from mental ill health to identify a positive destination that can become a key strand in their recovery plan.

Clients receive person centred open-ended tailored support to identify employment aspirations, fears, barriers and obstacles to achieving their goals for learning, training and education, volunteering, therapeutic work, part time or full time paid work using a holistic assessment.  

Individuals benefit from having one continuous employment case manager who will introduce them to any services they have identified and will see them all the way through to their positive destination and beyond.

Referral criteria: individuals living mainly in the Glasgow area, with a mental health diagnosis who are in receipt of ESA (Employment and Support Allowance) benefit that require additional support into utilising opportunities within training, education, volunteering and employment.
