No police charges for photo case nurse
A hospital worker who lost his job after reports he posed for pictures wearing a patient’s underwear will not face criminal charges.
James John Turner, a 21-year-old nursing auxiliary in a geriatric ward at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, had his employment terminated by NHS Grampian following a complaint.
Police Scotland looked into allegations of theft but said the clothing was not the personal property of patients on the ward.
The items had been temporarily removed from hospital supplies.
Detective Inspector Robert Dow of the specialist crime division said: “These allegations were of a distressing nature and it is only right that Police Scotland and NHS Grampian conducted enquiries into the circumstances.
“I want to reassure the public that there is no evidence so far to suggest any form of criminality.”
