Council suspends admissions to Four Seasons care home

An Aberdeen care home has been ordered to make improvements after inspectors found standards had dropped since making earlier recommendations.

Aberdeen City Council has suspended admissions to Banks O’Dee Care Home following the report.

The Care Inspectorate rated Banks O’Dee as weak for its care and staffing, saying staff did not give enough support to residents with dementia.

Operator Four Seasons Health Care said a member of staff had been suspended following a complaint by a resident.

A council spokesperson said: “We are aware of these issues and have been working very closely with the Care Inspectorate, health service and care home management team to seek improvements.

“An embargo on new admissions to the home is currently in place and will remain so throughout this process.”

A Four Seasons spokesperson said: “We regret that in this instance the quality of care at Banks O’Dee care home fell below the standard we expect to provide and that our residents are entitled to receive.

“We accepted the CI requirements and recommendations and have been implementing a comprehensive improvement plan.”
