Falkirk Women’s Aid establishes new support service
A new service will provide valuable support to everyone at high risk of domestic abuse in the Falkirk area.
For over 30 years, Falkirk and District Women’s Aid has helped those suffering violence and mental cruelty in the home.
Its newly-established Judicial and Advisory Service offers free specialist representation through two independent domestic abuse advocates.
They will give confidential one-to-one support to women and men suffering domestic abuse who are felt to be at particular risk.
Women’s Aid in this area also offers assistance to anyone who needs to give evidence in criminal cases through two court support workers.
Chris Murphy, Falkirk and District Women’s Aid manager, said: “These workers will also work closely with the police, social services and NHS staff to always make sure those clients are kept safe and that further risks are reduced.”
They work with women, children, young people, those in same-sex relationships, trans-people and men.
