SSSC urge workforce to act on compulsory registration
As more parts of the SSSC Register are becoming compulsory the SSSC are encouraging everyone eligible for registration to apply as soon as possible to avoid the rush and ensure they will be able to carry on working in their role.
If you are eligible for registration on the following parts of SSSC Register you are encouraged to apply now as a high volume of applications is expected:
- managers in housing support services and care at home services – compulsory registration from 31 January 2014, applications should have been submitted by 31 July 2013
- support workers in day care of children services – compulsory registration from 30 June 2014, applications should be submitted by 31 December 2013. There are currently 5,300 support workers in day care of children services still to register
- support workers in care home services for adults – compulsory registration from 30 September 2015, applications should be submitted no later than 30 September 2014. There are currently 23,000 support workers still to register.
Once an application is received, it may take up to 60 working days to process it so make sure you leave enough time for your application to be processed and apply now.
Workers new to a service or moving roles within a service where the Register is open should achieve registration within six months of taking up employment in their role.
