Public to be updated on Stirling Community Hospital ‘care village’ plans
Plans to revamp the Stirling Community Hospital site are set to go on display. The NHS are inviting locals to see their plans for a new ‘care village’ which aims to bring together a range of health, social care, housing, training and GP services for the elderly at the site.
The event takes place from 5.30pm till 7pm on Tuesday, August 27, in the lecture theatre at the community hospital.
Tom Steele, director of strategic projects and facilities at NHS Forth Valley, said the event will give people an update on the plans.
He said: “We held an initial information day earlier this year but thought it would be helpful to hold another event to provide an update on progress and give local people another opportunity to view the proposed plans and ask questions about the project.”
As part of the initiative, the Scottish Ambulance Service are also exploring the possibility of relocating their existing ambulance station in the Riverside area of Stirling on to the site. In addition, there are longer term plans to explore the development of housing within the area.
Councillor Christine Simpson, convenor of the social care and health committee at Stirling Council, said the project is important for the city.
She said: “We’re pleased to be offering an update on how our proposals for the creation of a ‘care hub’ for older people are progressing.
“I look forward to hearing feedback from the event.”
