CrossReach social care agency stresses teamwork
Teamwork is the key to CrossReach achieving its goals says the new Convener of the Church of Scotland’s Social Care Council, Dr Sally Bonnar.
Dr Bonnar took up her post at CrossReach, as it is better known, in May this year. The organisation provides care and support services as part of the Kirk’s involvement in working with the elderly, children and families, those who are homeless or have mental health problems, learning disabilities or are battling substance misuse throughout the country.
Dr Bonnar said: “It is a great tribute to our previous Convener, the Rev Syd Graham, that we are in as good a position as we are. It is only when you see all the information about what we do that you can fully appreciate the extent of the work done by CrossReach, the commitment involved and the challenges ahead.”
During her term, the Social Care Council hope to work closely with congregations and develop a partnership with presbyteries across Scotland in order to continue their work reaching out to people in need and to be able to provide support for years to come, it says.
The new Convener has twenty years’ experience as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with NHS Tayside and seven years as an elder in Perth North Church, and has stated that she is looking forward to the next four years with “confidence and curiosity”.
Dr Bonnar added: “We have a dedicated and skilled staff group and an enthusiastic Council. I am very encouraged about our future.”
